It is with a heavy heart I pass on the news that one of our founding members, Marjorie Fossey, has died.
Marjorie was very close to celebrating her 86th birthday on March 23rd. She will be remembered for the countless hours she spent creating marvelous sets for North Frontenac Little Theatre in the early years. I can’t imagine the number of hours she spent at her sewing machine creating the patchwork quilt scrim for “Anne of Green Gables” which now hangs in the rehearsal hall at Tichborne. Oh my the times she and I had painting sets together! Marjorie gave so much to the Little Theatre along with her husband, Glen, who passed away in 1987. A more giving, kind and generous person would be hard to find and her strong commitment to NFLT never wavered. When she received her Life time Achievement award in 2013 I referred to her as “The Queen Mum” of NFLT. She was indeed worthy of that title.
My last visit with her in January was a very good one. We talked about the 40th Anniversary for NFLT and reminisced about some of the shows we had been in and some of the challenging sets we created. We laughed a lot as we sipped our tea together.
Rest in peace Marjorie. You will never be forgotten.
Visitation on Sat. March 9 at Goodfellows Funeral Home in Tichborne from 1 to 3 p.m.
