Jeff Siamon’s new musical, The Boy Wonder, performed during the Mothers Day weekend at GREC, was a smashing success! It isn’t often you get a standing ovation opening night, but we got one for every performance this time. Jeff should be justly proud of this great accomplishment. Everyone involved in this production must be congratulated for their enthusiasm, their extraordinary performances and for all the time and energy put into this show. What a fantastic way to kick off our 40th Anniversary year. As I said to everyone at the cast party, the reason we have lasted so long is because we come together like family before performance time and encourage one another to create magic on stage. And we did just that once again. The audiences left with joy in their hearts and maybe humming some old forgotten songs.
The next item on our busy agenda this year is our AGM which will be held on Monday May 27th at the Rehearsal Hall in Tichborne. As is the custom, we meet before 6:00 p.m. for a pot luck supper and then proceed with the meeting at 7:00 p.m. There will be lots to discuss pertaining to the 40th festivities throughout the summer. As well we will be putting together a play selection committee for the fall production. And of course there has been much discussion concerning a summer theatre drama camp. Many young people are interested in participating as they have for the past two summers.
I hope as many of our members can attend as possible. We need your input to keep NFLT thriving into the future for the next generation. As Mr. Spock said, “Live long and prosper.”
